Reflection on Best Piece of Academic Work

While I was reflecting on the last three and a half years of school at the University of Montana, I realized that I have learned A LOT about Mathematics, French, pedagogy, Science, religion, Native Americans, dance, literature, and linguistics. I have a computer full of typed up papers and assignments to attest for it alongside of my 148 credit-total at the finish of my college career. There were definitely those classes that challenged me near to the point of insanity but were rewarding at the end. The academic work that I chose to present to you is from one of those classes called History of Mathematics.
The paper that I wrote combined two subjects that interest me greatly: Mathematics and French. I decided to write a paper about two French mathematicians who, through correspondence, laid the foundations for probability. Blaise Pascal and Pierre de Fermat is very well known in the mathematical community but also known in the scientific and philosophy communities.
I learned a lot about the two subjects, which will help me be able to teach my students better. The correspondence was very interesting to read in both English and French and I think it would be beneficial to require my students to read about the struggles that the famous mathematicians had. This paper really points out that learning does not come with out hard work and devotion to sticking with the problem.

This paper has furthered my learning as a student and that is very important to me as a teacher because I want my classroom to be an all-learner environment. This means that I as a teacher will be learning along side of the students and making mistakes or having victories just as much as the students do.
